Laying the Foundation

What we do

In 1938, a rush shipment of 10 teakwood hoops left the port in Holland, destined for Mississippi State University! The hoops were moulds for the famous "cannon ball" Edam cheese, which has endured as an MSU symbol for more than 80 years! Our process begins at the Bearden Dairy Research Center where our staff milks up to 200 cows twice a day then to our Custer Dairy Processing Plant where our cheese, milk, butter, and ice cream products are made to the final stop at the MAFES Sales Store where we provide to our wonderful customers. The Sales Store has grown over the last several years offering MSU dairy products, MSU meat, MSU flowers, jellies, condiments, McCartys Pottery, and much more.
